Hello and welcome to Timeless Lodge, our “keep it local” blog and home to the best hospitality and accommodation in Durban! A quick introduction so you get to know a little bit about me and what this blog is about. So, I’m Steff, and my husband Clint and I are the proud owners of Timeless Lodge, our incredibly special getaway located in Umkomaas, along the South Coast of Durban. I've been lucky enough to call Timeless Lodge my home for the past two years, and I couldn't imagine living anywhere else. Stepping onto the beach, right on our doorstep is a dream come true. It's a feeling that I can't put into words. It's truly magical!
The fresh Indian Ocean air is embracing, and the soft sunlight feels like a caress. Over the last year, I’ve become even closer to the people here, and I have met some of the most wonderful people. I have also learned so much about myself and my talents, since living here.
This blog is all about sharing what life is like running a hotel or bed and breakfast, sharing tips about running a lodge and what it means to us, and a whole lot more. We're big fans of promoting local business around us, so we'll be sharing some of our favorite things to do whilst holidaying in Durban and Umkomaas in particular.
To start, we are mom and dad to four wonderful children - Melissa, Cameron, Regan, and Gregory. We have two dogs, Molly and Mowgli, who will welcome you when you arrive. We have designed the lodge so you can relax and enjoy nature and recharge on your holiday. The Lodge is located close to the beach and is surrounded by lush greenery and our local wildlife - monkeys.
One of the most beautiful things about living in South Africa is being able to experience the outdoors. We are lucky enough to be able to go hiking, cycling, camping, and walking along the beach whenever we want. It’s also a great way for us to connect with nature, which is something we value a lot. It’s easy to get caught up in the hyper-modern world we live in today but knowing that we have the opportunity to get away from it all is a rare and special feeling. We would love to offer this opportunity to you and welcome you to our little slice of heaven and answer any questions you may have. I hope you’ll choose to spend the night in one of our elegant and affordable rooms.
Whatever you decide, we will make sure you have the best time possible. We really enjoyed sharing our holiday venue with guests over the past couple of years, and we look forward to sharing it with you for many more.
Living in Umkomaas has opened our eyes to the rich culture that exists here, and I’m so excited to share some of that culture with my readers. I’ve also been able to learn more about the wildlife and the beautiful beaches along Durban’s coastline.
So, If you are looking to explore the wonders of Durban or have a few days to spare, then you might consider staying for a while in one of our rooms. All of our rooms are sea-facing and enjoy their own private balcony. We have a fully equipped communal kitchen with all amenities for our Guests, a large barbecue/braai area and we serve breakfast daily which is included in our rate. Our holiday accommodation is perfect for those who want to experience the best of South Africa’s beach life and local attractions, but prefer to cook their own meals rather than eat out every meal. Our rooms can be configured with a king-size bed or 2 x single beds and are perfect for families, solo travelers, and groups who want to save some money by sharing some facilities but still have their own private space.
